1921

  • The multi-instrumentalist with strings, composer and arranger José Menezes [1] (José Menezes França), to whom Radamés dedicates, in 1957, the Concertino nº 3 for guitar and orchestra, with flute, drums, bells and string orchestra. [2]

[1] A child prodigy, José Menezes (1921-2014) from Ceará played all plucked string instruments: guitar, tenor guitar, cavaquinho, mandolin, banjo, country guitar, electric guitar. He moved to Rio de Janeiro in 1943, being hired by Rádio Mayrink Veiga. Later, he joined the Rádio Nacional orchestra as a guitarist. He was part of the Continental Quartet and the Radamés Gnattali Quintet (Sextet), from their foundation in the 1950s until the end of 1985, when the group ended its activities.

[2] The subtitle “Concerto de Copacabana” attributed to this concertino had neither the sympathy nor the approval of Radamés.
