Cinearte published on April 15th, 1933: “Maestro Radamés’ has composed the music and a quite original song and swing, it is a dramatic composition, that goes along with one of the most strong sequences of the film. The other themes come from the same motivation. There is still, isolated, another song by Heckel Tavares, lyrics by Joracy Camargo. This song is sung by Jorge Fernandes, the well-known singer from Rio de Janeiro, accompanied by group of notable violin players, gathered by Pereira Filho, considered, by Jorge André and Medina, the best violin player in Rio. We shall listen to a few Portuguese songs, performed by the guitar of Pereira Filho, including the guitar solo, along some parts of the story. The song by Heckel Tavares has been rehursed by himself for several days, with the presence of Déa Selva, who also sings some passages along the film. All of those songs are genuinely Brazilian. And we would like to stand out that Maestro Radamés’ orchestra has been formed with the best experts performers, such as Iberê Gomes, the best cello player in South America. Ganga bruta is not a spoken film actually, but it is not silent either: it has noises, speeches, songs and melodies that lively express situations, as well as some silent scenes speak much louder than the movietone voice”.“.
