Angelo Gnattali e Teresa Bighelli Gnattali, avós paternos de Radamés, eram naturais de Verona, norte da Itália. Deles, sabe-se muito pouco. Aída, irmã de Radamés, lembra uma velha história: ‘Um belo dia, esse meu avô achou uma bolsa cheia de dinheiro. Não contou a ninguém, escondeu a bolsa e esperou que aparecesse o dono. E apareceu. Ele foi lá, devolveu todo o dinheiro e foi embora sem esperar qualquer recompensa. As pessoas ficaram admiradas com o gesto daquele homem porque sabiam que ele e a mulher lutavam com muita dificuldade para criar os filhos. Angelo, l’onestà in persona, era assim que as pessoas da região se referiam ao meu avô. Papai tinha muito orgulho disso’.
Angelo Gnattali and Teresa Bighelli Gnattali, Radamés’ paternal grandparents, were from Verona, northern Italy. Very little is known about them. Aída, Radamés’ sister, recalls an old story: ‘One fine day my grandfather found a bag full of money. He didn’t tell anyone, hid the bag and waited for the owner to show up. And he did. He went there, returned all the money and left without expecting any reward. People were amazed at that man’s gesture because they knew that he and his wife were struggling hard to raise their children. Angelo, l’onestà in persona, that’s how the people in the region referred to my grandfather. Dad was very proud of that.
