Fala o maestro: “Naquele tempo, em Porto Alegre, todo bairro tinha uma espécie de clube de italianos, de operários. Aquele lá chamava-se Helena de Montenegro, em homenagem à filha do Rei da Itália. Lá tinha jogo de bocha, faziam baile e tinha professora de italiano pra ensinar às crianças. Ali que eu comecei a estudar”.
The maestro says: ‘At that time, in Porto Alegre, every neighborhood had a kind of Italian club, of workers. That one was called Helena of Montenegro, in honor of the daughter of the King of Italy. There they had a bocce ball, a dance, and an Italian teacher to teach the children. That’s where I started to study.
