Concertino No. 1 for guitar and chamber orchestra (1951), by Radamés Gnattali, performed by Cuban guitarist Juan Mercadal. The present recording was made in Canada, during the “Toronto Guitar Festival”, in 1984. Concertino nº 1 for guitar and orchestra, dedicated to Maria Teresa Terán and Juan Mercadal, was premiered by J. Mercadal himself on 05/31/1953, in the city of Rio de Janeiro, at the Cine Teatro Rex, at 10 am, within the series “Juventude Escolar” of the Brazilian Symphonic Orchestra, conducted and artistically directed by Eleazar de Carvalho.
