among the performers, besides the authors, are violinist Oscar Borgerth and cellist Iber\u00ea Gomes Grosso.<\/li>\n<li>Radam\u00e9s is hired by the recording company Victor Talking Machine Co. of Brazil as pianist of the orchestras T\u00edpica Victor, Diabos do C\u00e9u and Guarda Velha, under the direction of maestro Alfredo da Rocha Vianna Filho (Pixinguinha).<\/li>\n<li>The clarinetist, saxophonist, composer and arranger Paulo Moura (Paulo Gon\u00e7alves de Moura) to whom Radam\u00e9s dedicates, in 1959, was born in S\u00e3o Jos\u00e9 do Rio Preto (SP), <strong><br \/>\n  <em>Sad waltz<\/em><br \/>\n<\/strong>in 1959, among a series of pieces for alto saxophone and piano.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Radam\u00e9s composes:<\/strong><strong><em> <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><strong><em>Acalanto for chamber orchestra<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><em>N\u00eago veio t\u00e1 sonhando (batuque)<\/em> <em>for cello and piano<\/em> <\/strong>&#8211; dedicated to Iber\u00ea Gomes Grosso <\/li>\n<li><strong><em>Serestas No. 2 for string quartet<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The first competitive parade of Rio de Janeiro&#8217;s samba schools takes place at Pra\u00e7a Onze, and the Esta\u00e7\u00e3o Primeira de Mangueira wins.<\/li>\n<li>Villa-Lobos takes over as director of SEMA &#8211; Superintendency of Musical and Artistic Education, a normative and pedagogical body of the new federal government.
